There’s a lot of competition going on for the Wanderers’ spot, but Ian Evatt insists that everyone gets a chance if they keep putting in difficult situations.
Ligue 1 clubs can only nominate seven substitutes on matchdays, with players such as Declan John and Owen Beck being removed from the recent squad.
However, Evatt challenged those currently excluded from the team to “keep their heads down” and work hard in training.
When asked about John’s absence from the squad recently, Evatt said: Owen has been training really well over the past few weeks.
“When he first came to this building from his experience in Portugal, he wasn’t in the position we wanted.
“For the last two weeks, he’s been training with bad skin. He had a good 30 minutes against Leeds (at the Papa Jones Trophy) and is always improving.
“Not only that, but there are always players left behind and it shows that our team is really strong.
“All I can say to unrelated people is keep your head down, be a pro, be a good teammate, work hard and keep doing the right thing, and you will eventually get a chance.”
John has not played in the league since a 1-0 loss to Forest Green at New Ron earlier this month.
Welshman was a regular starting pitcher last season and took full advantage of the opportunity to thrive and move forward after being replaced with a back-five.
Meanwhile, Beck is still waiting for his first taste of League One football after joining on a season loan.
Jack Iredale has been a regular wing-back this season, while Dapo Afolayan has recently also played on the left flank.
